Redefining Equity: Measuring and Responding to EDI in a Changing Landscape

In a time of growing scrutiny around diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI/EDI), how can industry move from rhetoric to measurable, sustainable change? This event showcases the findings of the collaborative project “Addressing Bias in Capital Allocation – Defining and Applying Metrics for Inclusion (DEI)”, led by Lenox Park Solutions Inc. and provides a snapshot of key findings of the project “Diverse Workforce” in partnership with BMW Group at MINI Plant Oxford.

“Addressing Bias in Capital Allocation – Defining and Applying Metrics for Inclusion (DEI)” is a pioneering project that seeks to redefine how inclusion is understood and implemented within capital allocation processes. By integrating Lenox Park’s proprietary “Evenness Score” and Human Capital Optimisation tools with the latest research on cognitive diversity, the project establishes a data-driven framework for addressing systemic bias in investment decision-making. Key findings include validated correlations between demographic balance and organisational innovation, as well as a newly developed toolkit for assessing inclusive workforce dynamics across hiring, promotion, and attrition metrics.

The “Diverse Workforce” project is a flagship initiative under the SDG LAB 2025 programme at MINI Plant Oxford, aimed at embedding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) into the heart of workplace culture. The project focuses on raising awareness, fostering inclusive leadership, and ensuring equitable recruitment and career progression across the organisation. Through targeted workshops, storytelling, and structural reviews, it seeks to build a more inclusive, innovative, and resilient workforce.

The event will include a presentation of the projects’ key insights, followed by a panel discussion highlighting the current discourse and exploring the future of EDI. Experts from industry and academia will discuss how organisations can respond to the evolving discourse around inclusion and how rigorous, evidence-based metrics can drive both accountability and innovation.

Founded in 2021, the SDG Impact Lab brings together Oxford graduate students, researchers, and industry leaders to co-develop solutions to today’s most pressing social and environmental challenges. As part of the Department of International Development, the Lab integrates rigorous academic insight with real-world impact, advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals through research, partnership, and practice. This project is one of 20 active partnerships in the current academic year, two of which focus specifically on DEI/EDI themes, including work with BMW Group and Lenox Park Solutions.
